Spent Lithium-ion Battery An Environmental Risk:Problems and Prospects in China

  Consumer electronics and electric vehicle has been changing human landscape of life and transportation.Rapid urban metabolism has produced a large amount of spent lithium-ion battery, which is an emerging problem due to the potential environmental risk.This manuscript, based on the statistics, predicts the generation and distribution of spent LiBs in China.Results obtained indicate that urban or populous areas are prone to expose to high density pollution from spent LiBs.In light of the previous study and current regulation, environmental risk and legislation in terms of spent LiBs in China are summarized and reviewed.Additionally, towards a leapfrog management over conventional e-waste in China, some suggestions are prospected from collection to recycling of spent LiBs.
