Leading the World through Promoting New Techniques in Dam Construction Actively and Prudently
Ranking first in the world in terms of the total number of dams andthe number of high dams higher than 200 m in the world, China has come to lead the worlddam in many aspects in dam construction.Problems and factors relating to dam construction are numerous and complex.At the same time, there are still unknown regions for man about the nature and dam technology, and the potenlial bad effects and risks are outstanding forhigh dams.As a result, the application of new techniques in dam constructionshould follow the rule of being active and prude.This paper has summarized ourknowledge and lessons from Dam, analyzed features of China s dam construction and problems in construction process, demonstrated the relationship between application of new techniques and technical standards, expounded the significance of new techniques in practical projects, and provided suggestions about promoting the application of new techniques.
