An Experimental Study for Dam Operation on Power House Construction in Chungpyong Dam
In this study, we verified the total discharge capacity and the discharge capacity of each gate opening of the Cheongpyeong Dam through a hydraulicmodel experiment and a numerical analysis with respect to the total discharge and the discharge capacity of each floodgate.We also quantitatively evaluated the discharge capacity of the reservoir and the Cheongpyeong Dam depending on the floodgate 1nanipulation and operation.To calculate the discharge of the Cheongpyeong Dam, the previously reported discharge and the floodgate status were reviewed, and the discharge capacity and the difference in the discharge capacity depending on each opening were investigated through a hydraulic model experiment and a numerical simulation.We also reviewed the discharge capacity through a discharge experiment assuming a full opening of all the floodgates, and verified the results by comparing them with the data of the conventional operation plan.In addition, a discharge capacity experiment was performed for each of the floodgates.The dependency of the discharge by a full opening of the floodgates upon the water level was compared with those of the hydraulic model, the numerical simulation, and the conventional operation plan, which showed that the discharge capacity results were similar.Finally, we investigated the hydraulics around the dam depending on the first floodgate opening position of the currently applied conventional operation plan and the assumed positions shifted to the center and to the right bank side from that of the conventional plan.Based on the results, we concluded that the conventional operation plan is appropriate to the current dam conditions.
