Can a Society Get Rid of Corruption through Legislation Alone? The Case of Brazil
Corruption has become a major threat to national economies throughout the world and is evident in both the private and public sectors, posing a very significant challenge to public leadership throughout as ethical and integrity standards and codes of ethics are violated, honest state audits are sidelined and a culture of corruption has become a structural rather than a functional reality.The contribution starts with a brief exploration of the concept and practice of leadership integrity.It relates that to a historical evolution of leadership corruption in Brazil before it moves to explore the comprehensive legislation in the country as a shield against corruption.It concludes with the latest developments in the country, the public outrage against corruption and the new proposed measures and steps to improve integrity in all spheres of governance and the private sector.
