E-government and E-democracy in China:How Far is the Achievement?--Taking Contentious Events for Example
With the development of information technology, Chinas government responded immediately to meet this challenge, and achieved a great success.Supported by public finance, each level of government and its branches built their own websites, and some even refresh their official microblog in time.It seems that E-government does put forward the pace of E-democracy in China, in the view of functions of E-government, it can be concluded that E-democracy is also one step away.This paper takes contentious events happened in China as example, and analyses the official portals insufficient functions.Compared with other developed countries, the conclusion is that E-government hasnt played a powerful role in promoting E-democracy in China.The corresponding countermeasures might be focus on the function of network as the following: sharing the information resources, political communication, and cyber community activities.
