Research on Strategies to Cope with Mass Incidents from the Perspective of Functionalism and Conflict Theory

At present China is in an accelerating transition from a planned economy to a market economy as well as from a traditional society to a modern society.During this period, the economy and reform gain rapid development. The profound changes to the society not only bring power and vitality to the development of society but also cause some problems and conflicts, such as social conflicts and mass incidents. Therefore, the key issue that China needs to address now is to solve mass incidents in a decent manner in order to limit social conflicts within an affordable range and ensure the stability and development of the society.Meanwhile, we also need to realize that, other than negative and destructive effects, conflicts also generate positive and constructive influence to the society. From this perspective and based on the reality in China, we propose a set of strategies to solve mass incidents and promote the harmonic evolution of the society.
