Study on Metadata Interoperablility Extension of Data Sharing Infrastructure of Earth System Science of China Based on GeoNetwork
Data Sharing Infrastructure of Earth System Science (DSIESS) is one of the long term operational data sharing facilities in National Science and Technology Infrastructure of China.DSIESS adopts the distribute data resources integration and sharing model based on metadata. How to improve global interoperability of the metadata of the platform has been the key issue and bottleneck of DSIESS.GeoNetwork is a kind of open source geographic information platform, recommended by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).Metadata extension mechanism and technologies of DSIESS are studied based on GeoNetwork.Through the configuration of the XML and XSL files related with GeoNetwork, the localization GeoNctwork platform can be deployed initially.Metadata standard of DSIESS was added into the metadata standards fist of GeoNetwork successfully.Metadata interoperability was extended using XML, XSLT and other technologies.Several metadata query and management functions were realized in GeoNetwork, such as interactive search function, XML metadata importing function and validation function, and so on.Experiments showed that not only the GeoNetwork metadata standard content was enriched, but also the metadata international interoperabllity capacity was promoted.
