The Impact of Health Enabling Technologies on the Quality and Safety of Aged Care:A Model for Assessment of eHealth Applications

  This paper reports on a project in China aimed at assessing the potential impact of health-enabling teclmologies (HETs) on the quality and safety of home care with particular focus on elderly.The objectives of the project include: (1) The development of an assessment framework based on the experience and lessons in the west, particularly in EU; (2) To apply the framework in selected case studies for its initial test to establish the general viability and applicability in the west; (3) To review critically the outcomes of the case studies to form a basis for the proposed framework; (4) To compare between the west and China in existing practice, culture and political systems, in order to tailor the framework into more applicable to the Chinese context.
