Adsorption properties of starch-grafted polyacrylamide and cross-linked starch-grafted polyacrylamide for Cu(Ⅱ)
Cross-linked starch-grafted polyacrylamide (CSA) were synthesized from corn starch and the adsorption performance for Cu(II) ion from aqueous solution is compared with starch-grafted polyacrylamide (SA).Various factors including solution pH, Cu(lⅡ) ion concentration, treatment time, and temperature were studied. The results indicated that the adsorption capacity of Cu(Ⅱ) of SA and CSA reached the maximum when the pH was 6.and both of adsorptions of Cu(Ⅱ) ion followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and fitted the Freundlich isotherm well, but the adsorption capacity of CSA was higher than that of SA.The thermodynamic parameter,△G, were calculated. The△G values of CSA at various temperatures was more negative than that of SA confirmed that using CSA is more favorable for the adsorption of Cu(Ⅱ).
