Pollution Charateristics and Environmental Risk Assesment of Typical Veterinary Antibiotics in Livestock Farms,Southeastern China

The scientific interest in the pollution of antibiotics in animal husbandry has increased during recent years. However there have been few studies on vertical exposure characteristics of typical veterinary antibiotics in different exposure matrices from different livestock farms. In this study, through the investigation of exposure level of typical antibioties in feed, manure, soil, vegetables, water, fish and pork in livestock farms, the distribution role and migration of antibiotics from feed to manure, from manure to soiland from soil to vegetables were expiored. Finally, a screening environmental risk assessment was conducted to identify the hazardous potential of veterinary antibiotics firom livestock farms of southeast China. The results showed that adding antibiotics in drinking water as well as excessive use of antibiotic feed additives may become the major source of antibioties pollution in the livestock farms. The physical and chemical properties significantly affected the distribution and the migration from manure to soil and from soil to plant of various antibiotics.Simple migration models can predict the accumuolation of antibiotics in soil and plants. The environmental risk assessment results showed that more attention should be paid to the terrestrial eco-risk of sulfadiazine, sulfamethazine, sulfametho xazole, tetracycline, oxytetracyeline, chlorotetraeyeline, eiprofloxacin and enroflo xacin, and the aquatic eeo-risk of chiorotetracyeline, cipro flo xaein and enroflo xacin. This was the first systematic analysis of vertical pollution characteristics of typical veterinary antibiotics in livestock farms of southeast China, which also identified the ecological and human health risk of veterinary antibiotics.
