Dry-thermophilic Anaerobic Co-digestion of Swine Manure Mixed with Forage Rice Straw
Dry thermophilic anaerobic co-digesting swine manure with forage rice straw to enhance biogas productivity was investigated in this study.A series of C/N ratios (C/N=7.4 (swine manure), 10, 20, 30, 125 (rice straw); named PM, PF10, PF20, PF30, FRS treatments) with triplicates were designed to exaamine the improvement of semi-continuous digestion in terms of NI-4+-N concentration control and methane yield. All the reactors were run simu ltaneously under controlled temperature at 55℃.The results showed that rice straw significantly increased methane content in the biogas from all rice straw added treatments. The NH-L4+-N concentrations were significantly different among different C/N ratios.Particularly, the NH4+-N concentration in PM was above 4000 mg-N kg-1while that in PF130 was remaining around 1500 mg-N kg-1 through the entire experimental period.Correspondently, average methane yield were 45±35 ml-CH4 g-1 VSadded in PM whereas that in PF30 increased six times and obtained 271±42 ml-CH4 g-1 ySaddded. The results suggested that it is possible to control NH4+-N concentration and further improve methane yield through adjusting C/N ratio by adding rice straw into pig manure under dry thermoephilic anaerobic condition.
