Study on the Effects of Electro-Spinning Settings on the Properties of Polyester Micro-fiber

  Poly (ethylene terephtiialate) micro-fibers were prepared using eleclro-spinning technique.The morphology and structure of tiie PET fibers were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).The effects of spinning dope concentration,spinning voltage and receiving distance on tiie fiber properties(including fiber diameter and crystallinity) have been investigated in tiiis paper.The experimental results showed tiiat the continuous PET fibers witiiout beads can be obtained witii the specific spinning settings: spinning voltage at 20 kV,receiving distance at 15 cm,and 10%-16% concentration.The eleclro-spinning process can be controlled well at a spinning voltage of 16-22 kV.The receiving distance had no obvious effects on the diameter and morphology of tiie spun fibers.However,the crystallinity of the PET fibers was low relative to otiier spinning methods.
