Preparation and Thermal Stability of Pd-doped Organic-inorganic Hybrid Silica Materials in Air Atmosphere
Pd-doped organic-inorganic hybrid silica (Pd/Si02) materials were prepared using the sol-gel method. The particle size distribution of Pd/Si02 sol and tiiermal stability of Pd/Si02 materials in air atmosphere were investigated. Most of tiie particle diameters of the freshly prepared Pd/Si02 sol are in the range of 2-5.5 nm.When the calcination temperature of Pd/Si02 materials is increased to 350 °C,metallic palladium of high crystallinity will be formed. The metallic palladium formed will be partly converted to PdO as the calcination temperature is increased to 500 °C.With the increase of calcination temperature, the Si-CH3 and Si-OH bands in Pd/Si02 materials are found to decrease in absorption intensity, and the water contact angles of Pd/Si02 films increase until 350 °C.The Si-CH3 band disappears completely when the calcining temperature is up to 750 °C.In order to preserve tiie hydrophobicity of Pd/Si02 membrane materials, the optimal calcination temperature should be 350 °C.
