Preparation and Characterization of Polyurea Microcapsules Containing Butyl stearate as a Phase Change Material through Interfacial Polymerization
Microcapsules containing a phase change material (PCM) of butyl stearate was successfully synthesized by interfacial polycondensation of toluene-2,4-diis o cyanate (TDI) and dietiiylene Iriamine (DETA).The average diameter of microencapsulated PCM (MicroPCMs) is in the range of 2-6 fim under tiie stirring speed of 5000 rpm.The prepared MicroPCMs were smooth and compact, and tiie melting temperature and enthalpies are 23.3 °C and 19.li-g1 respectively. It was first presented as a two-step method of adding DETA.When DETA was added in tiie two-step method, the mean weight loss rate of the MicroPCMs decreased from one-steps 23.7% to 15.2% after drying at 120 °C for 1 hour;the mean core content retention of tiie MicroPCMs increases from one-steps 56.6% to 63.4% after being washed using ethanol.
