A Biomechanical Model of the Female Upper Body for Bra Design
This paper introduces a finite element model of the female upper body with detailed anatomical geometries to predict the compression effects of sports bra.A reasonable agreement was found in the validation, especially in the bra cup area. The distribution of botii contact pressure and clothing deformation true strain or logarithmic strain was illustrated. The maximum contact pressure 1155Pa occurred on the nipple of tiie breast, whereas tiie maximum principal true strain of the bra occurred near the nipple of tiie cup area. This study indicates that tiie proposed finite element model is a useful evaluation tool for tiie bra design.
