Progress of Learner Performance through Integrating Virtual World with Computer Simulation on Clothing Functional Design
This paper presents tiie progress of learning performance on knowledge, skills and attitude through virtual world integrated with computer simulation. The study was conducted in the context of teaching a subject entitled Design for Function and Performance. The authors examined the learning performance of 42 students from tiie Institute of Textiles and Clotiiing.A pretest and two posttests measuring students on knowledge, skills and attitude were employed to explore the progress of learning performance, and surveys were used to collect data on student affective responses towards the virtual world and computer simulation.First,it was found tiiat tiiis approach integrating virtual world with computer simulation significantly improved student learning outcomes on knowledge, skills and attitude.Secondly,it was found that student learning outcomes were significantly improved on knowledge, skills and attitude after the first stage leaning though tiie virtual world. Finally,it was found tiiat student learning outcomes were significantly improved only on skills rather than knowledge and attitude after the second stage learning tiirough computer simulation.
