A Comparative Study of Fabric Stiffness based on FTT,KES and Subjective Testing

　　The present study described an exploratory investigation on evaluation of fabric softness-stiffness sensation using a novel fabric touch tester (FTT,seen in Fig.2) developed by ourselves.Under tiie standard condition,twenty-three volunteers were recruited to conduct subjective evaluation and twenty-three samples were measured by FTT and Kawabata Evaluation System (KES) to perform objective evaluation.The statistical analysis by SPSS 17.0 showed tiiat fabric stiffness could be measured by FTT objectively witii good repeatability and reproducibility and there was a significant correlation between tiie objective and subjective tests.Moreover,excellent linear relationship was exhibited between the objective results measured by FTT and KES.In summary,FTT would be a new rapid approach to evaluate the fabric stiffness property objectively.
