Research on Water extraction of Cortex fraxini for dyeing of wool fabrics

　　The extracted dye from Cortex Fraxini was used as a natural dye for the dyeing of wool fabrics witii tiiree different mordanting metiiods.The optimal conditions for dye extraction were to extract the Cortex Fraxini twice at 80 °C for 90 min in a 20:1 ratio of water to Cortex Fraxini powder.Wool fabrics were dyed witii the extracted dye from the Cortex Fraxini at 90 °C for 60min witii a liquor to material ratio of 30:1.The effect of dyeing using different mordanting metiiods and mordant type was studied.The results showed that tiie dyeing of wool fabrics using the pre-mordanting metiiod with ferrous sulphate heptahydrate as a mordant provided better depth of shade and color faslness.The optimal pre-mordanting conditions for wool fabrics were to pre-mordanting with 7 g/1 ferrous sulphate heptahydrate at 80 °C for 30 min at pH 4.
