The fractal characters of micro-nano TATB particles and its effect on detonation capability

  In order to study the fractal characters and its effect on detonation capacity of micro-nano TATB particles, four different states micro-nano grade TATB samples were prepared by high-energy fluid impacting method, recrystalling method, recrystailing-high energy fluid impacting method and mechanical milling method respectively.The prepared TATB samples were measured by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and small angel X-ray scatter(SAXS), samples detonation capacity were compared via dent principle test.The SEM observing results show the shapes of obtained micro-nano TATB samples are much different but each sample has analogous particle shape and self-similar fraetal character.The SAXS results confirm the fraetal character of four micro nano TATB particle shape but show they have different fractal dimension which prepared by different methods, the order of fractal dimension is mechanical milling sample > recrystalling sample > recrystalling-high-energy fluid impacting sample > high-energy fluid impacting sample, this order is in accordance with the order of coarse degree of particles surface shape obtained by SEM observation.The fractal dimension has an obvious effect on detonation capacity, the sample with larger fractal dimension has higher detonation capacity.
