Studies on thermal stability of pyrotechnic compositions
The influences of composition and the combinative effect of temperature and humidity on the thermal stabilities of pyrotechnic compositions are investigated in this current study.The thermal behavior of pyrotechnic compositions is analyzed by using Mettler and Sataram thermal analyzers.The thermal kinetic parameters, such as activation energy and pre-exponential factor, are determined by Kissinger method.The critical temperature of thermal explosion of pyrotechnic compositions is calculated.The experimental results show that thermal stability of pyrotechnic compositions drops when KClO4 is added into the compositions.However, the thermal stability of pyrotechnic compositions can be improved with additive SrCO3.Moreover, the humidity plays an important effect on the thermal behavior of pyrotechnic compositions.The decomposition reaction can be promoted when the humility is within a certain range.And the thermal stability of sample 1 that only containing Sr(NO3)2 as oxidizer is dropped with the increase of humidity.
