Experimental research on ignition LTNR by micro semiconductor bridge

  In this paper, the optimal parameters such as aspect ratio, angle, bridge area and mass of the SCB/LTNR firing devices were studied.By analyzing fire phenomenon and resistance characteristics in dimension with 20μm long×50μm wide of the semiconductor bridge, two ignition mechanisms can be found.One is called electro-thermal ignition by heat conduction from SCB into the energetic material for ignition, whose corresponding bridge area is 7.65× 10-10m2 and the mass is 3.55× 10-9g.The other is called electro explosive, by a convective process from SCB into the energetic materials involving the transport of the silicon vapor into LTNR, whose corresponding area is 5.68× 10-10m2 and the mass is 2.64× 109g.
