Combustion wave of CL-20/RDX composite modified double-base propellants
The combustion wave temperature distribution of double-base propellant containing CL-20 or RDX was investigated by embedded H-shaped thermocouple. It has been shown that the initial decomposition temperatures and the surface combustion temperatures for double-base propellant containing CL-20 were in range of 170-197℃ and in the range of 324-349℃, the same as those of doublebase propellant containing RDX.The initial decomposition temperatures and the surface combustion temperatures for double-base propellant containing CL-20 didnt change with pressure. There are the agreement laws between the change of temperature gradient in solid phase heat zone and solid reactive zone and the change of burning rate, which showed that H-shaped thermocouple can be applied to combustion mechanism research of propellant.Simultaneously, it indicated that burning surface energy of double-base propellants containing CL-20 or RDX released completely in relative low pressure, which resulted in that CMDB possessed low critical pressure.
