Case study on stability analysis of large rock slopes by stereophotogrammetry in highway construction project
Rock Slope is influenced in the stability of slope by discontinuities, but in reality it is difficult to judge it when designing slope. Therefore, most rock slope stability assessments are carried out during their excavation. But if the rock slope is high and steep, it is impossible to measure the direc tion of discontinuities. In these cases, it is possible to measure rock joints of the high places using by stereophotogrammetry. We used the stereoscopic survey technique to measure the direction of rock joints of high rock slope in highway construction sites.Through a slope stability analysis of rock joints, we can know what occurred during the failures of plane, wedge and toppling types in local regions of this slope.Using results of the stereoscopic survey method, we could establish slope stabilization measures that should be applied to soil nail reinforcements in the region having poor rock qualities and anchor reinforcements in the lower region of slopes capable of plane failure occurrences.
