The Genetic Significances of Olivine from the Getashankou Ni-Cu Sulfide-Bearing Mafic-Ultramafic Intrusions,East Tianshan,NW China
The newly discovered Getashankou Ni-Cu sulfide-bearing mafic-ultramafic intrusions are located in the eastern section of the Huangshan-Jingerquan Ni-Cu ore belt, east Tianshan, NW-China.There are four mafic-ultramafic intrusions, of which the intrusion Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ are Ni-Cu sulfide bearied.Based on the microscopic examination and electron probe analysis of olivine, the olivine is chrysolite and the forsterite (Fo) values of fresh olivine vary from 83.1 to 86.6, and its average component of nickel is 1918ppm (ranges from 1273 to 2719ppm), and the contents of NiO vary from 0.16% to 0.35%, 0.24% on average. The variation of olivine compositions in drillhole ZK602 (110~160m) indicates that the Getashankou intrusions have the characteristics of pulses of magma. The parental magma of Getashankou with 11.84% MgO, 10.88% FeO and 35 lppm Ni is NiO deficited because of the crystal fractionation of original basaltic magma, and the parental magma has excess olivines. The calculation results of Ni content changing with Fo of olivine indicate that the olivine is crystallized from the sulfide saturated magma, and reaction of olivine with sulfide liquids may have taken place. Therefore, the Getashankou mafic-ultramafic intrusions are likely to have a good mineralization potential.
