Rollover Prevention Control for Sport Utility Vehicles Based on Braking-by-wire

  Vehicle rollover in critical driving maneuvers at high-speed is a necessary problem to be solved in the research field of vehicle active safety.Taking the large front wheel steering angle and the coupling relationship between the longitudinal motion and lateral motion into consideration,a four degree of freedom nonlinear model is established to describe rollover dynamic characteristics of sport utility vehicles.To meet the needs of vehicle rollover prevention,the braking force is provided by Electro Hydraulic Brake system.And the vehicle rollover index is presented on the vehicle rollover safety and comfort performance.Also,the control strategy is proposed for vehicle rollover prevention on the combination of the single-neuron PID control algorithm with differential braking rules.Then,some rollover dynamic characteristics of sport utility vehicle are analyzed by two typical numerical cases.The results show that the strategy can prevent a rollover and improve comfort performance effectively.
