Subset Simulation for Probabilistic Analysis of the Bearing Strength of the Pin-loaded Joint in Composite Laminates
In this study,a new methodology for probabilistic analysis on the bearing strength of a composite pin joint is proposed on the basis of Subset Simulation and finite element (FE) analysis.A two-dimensional (2D) FE model in Abaqus is developed for the deterministic progressive damage analysis involved in the probabilistic analysis.Three groups of failure criteria,two sets of degradation rules form 6 combinations of input parameter settings for the deterministic progressive damage analysis of the composite pin joint.All these 6 combinations are detailed investigated for predictions of the mean,coefficient of variation (COV) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the bearing strength.The computational results have been validated by compared with experimental data,and shows strong agreement for 2 out of 6 combinations.
