BackstopsInfluence on the Piezoelectric Response of PVDF Based Sensors
PVDF as a piezoelectric polymer has been studied extensively in the tactile sensors because of its characteristic.A lot of studiers do many research and publish a lot of papers in this area, including force and temperature detection. The P VDF sensors piezoelectric responses are examined by experiments of falling impact, slide movement and cantilever shaking. The backstops influences on the response of the PVDF sensor were examined and discussed. In this presented work, the sandwich structured PVDF sensors were prepared by the PVDF film with the thickness of 30,50 and 100 tμn.First, it is found that the sensors peak-to-peak voltages (Vpr) are sensitive to the undergone force when they are supported by elastic materials, such as sponge, rubber and cantilever. But for rigidly supported (like desk supported) PVDF sensors, Vpp is not an appropriate value to evaluate the suffered impact energy, while their responding time exhibit the consistency with the potential energies of the falling objects.Second, the roughness of the backstops is also a factor to affect their output piezoelectric signals.
