Environmental flow for the Yangtze River below Three Gorges Reservoir
Environmental flow is important to maintain river health of the Yangtze River. The study defined minimum, optimal and maximum environmental flow, respectively. A new monthly frequency method was proposed to analyze the environmental flow. This paper selected Yichang gauge station located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River below Three Gorges reservoir. The method was used to compute minimum, optimal and maximum environmental flow. The calculating results were analyzed by using Tennant method. The results provide a reference for preserving river hydrological regimes and maintaining river ecosystem stability and health.
