System dynamics modeling for socioeconomic water usage influencing TP in Baiyangdian Lake, Northern China

With the continual increase of the pressure from human activities on the environment, it has become necessary to study the process of socio-economic water usage influencing the water quality. In this paper, a system dynamic model was developed to display the whole related flowing processes to total phosphorus (TP) in socioeconomic water usage. This system dynamics model is based on a coupled modeling structure that takes into account the socioeconomic water circulation. Furthermore, by building a balance of water supply and demand, the integrated influencing mechanisms of socioeconomic water usage influencing TP were clearly illustrated. The research can provide a reference to the water resources planning and management, as well the eutrophication control.
