Spatial and temporal variations of eutrophication of Hanshiqiao Lake in Northern China
Wetland eutrophication mainly results from excessive nutrients input is the leading causes of water quality impairment. The research outcomes of distribution of eutrophication can provide scienfic basis for control and treatment of wetland. In the paper, based on field data of water quality of June, 2012, November, 2012 and April, 2013, distribution feature on time and space of eutrophication was analyzed. Geographical information system (GIS) and trophic state index (TSI) consisting of four physical, chemical and biological indicators including total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and chlorophyll-a concentration (Chl-a) was constructed to describe the eutrophication state of the lake environment. It showed that eutrophication level in Hanshiqiao Lake varied in different months and different locations. November had the larger TSIs, indicating that eutrophication level of this period was serious. The location near of site-6 was far more than other sites and site-5 was less. Potential eutrophication assessment showed that Hanshiqiao Lake was mesotrophic in June and April while upper-mesotro-phic in November. The physical background will be further investigated in the on-going study.
