Modifying the channel erosion and deposition amount of Yichang-Jianli reach calculated by sediment discharge method
When sediment discharge method is used to calculate the amount of river channel erosion and deposition, measurement error and sediment amounts caused by bank collapse, sand mining, diversion and conflux as well as water imbalance are need to be considered. Measured data of suspended load and bed load in Yichang, Zhicheng, Shashi and Jianli hydrological stations in downstream of the Three Gorges Dam were used in this article to calculate amounts of river channel erosion and deposition of Yichang to Zhicheng reach, Zhicheng to Shashi reach and Shashi to Jianli reach from November 2002 to October 2008 using sediment discharge method. In addition to the observation experiment data of near-bed suspended load which was carried out by Bureau of Hydrology, Changjiang Water Resources Commission (BOH, CWRC) in 2006, the investigation results of sand mining of Yangtze River, bank collapse and sediment diversion were applied to modify the result calculated by sediment discharge method. Comparison of river channel erosion-deposition amounts before and after the modification with calculated result by topography method shows that it‘s necessary to modify the river channel erosion-deposition amount by sediment discharge method.
