Study on ecological losses of hydropower development in Lhasa river watershed
The hydropower development will destroy the watershed ecosystem and lead to eco-service losses. This paper established an indicator system of the eco-service valuation to evaluate the ecological loss of Lhasa Rivers hydropower development. This evaluation method covers the main influence factors of ecological loss indicators on three different spatial scales, the dam construction level, river level, and watershed level during hydropower development, and it can be transformed into currency. Taking Pondo (located in upper reach) and Zhikong (located in down reach) hydropower stations in Lhasa River as case study, it concludes that for the indicators in dam construction level, the upper reach of Lhasa Rivers hydropower has a relatively higher loss; while the indicators in river level and watershed level, the down reach has a larger ecological loss.
