Noncontact Laser Sensing for Civil Infrastructure Monitoring
This paper provides an overview of ongoing laser based advanced structural healthmonitoring (SHM) re searches being performed by the authors group.Particular focus is given to the development of (1) a laser dynamic displacement measurement system for the modal analysis, (2) a laser ultrasonic scanning system for defect visualization, and (3) a laser thermography system for fatigue crack visualization.The application ex amples of these SHM techniques ranging from bridges to wind turbines, as well as train bogie, are also pres ented.
