Durability-based Service Life Prediction of Concrete Bridges

  Concrete carbonation and steel corrosion influence the service life of concrete bridges seriously.This papersummarized the three current practical models (for short, Model 1, Model 2 and Model 3, respective ly.) for predicting concrete carbonation depth.Taking a typical RC bridge located in the coastal area as en gineering background, the analysis of predicting concrete carbonation depth were completed by above three models.The predicted values were compared with actual test data.The carbonation life of several key mem bers for the bridge was given.The modified Model 3 was revised by introducing the water cement ratio coeffi cient.The results showed there is a good agreement with actual measurement data.It can provide a reliable basis with the maintenance and reinforced of the background bridge.
