Seismic Reliability Analysis of Buried Gas Pipes

This paper is concerned with the evaluation of reliability of buried gas pipes under seismic excitation.Nonlinear finite element model for buried pipes and the physical random function model of seismic ground motion are adopted to analyze the seismic stress of the pipe.Combining the seismic stress and other stresses, a performance function of the pipelines, which can express the boundary between survival and failure, is es tablished. Finally, probability density evolution method is used to evaluate the reliability of the pipelines. An example is studied using the proposed method.
