Mechanical Properties of Waste Rubber Powder Modified Wood-plastic Composite Formwork
Waste tire rubber (WTR) powder was firstly activated by alkali treatment, then blended in wood flour (WF), subsequently mixed into HDPE, PP base (WTR/WPC) through hot-press molding technique.Ten sile (ft), flexural (fb), and impact (fa) strengths of WTR/WPC with 4 different WTR additions were stud ied, and optical microscopy was further employed to observe the distribution of WTR in WPC matrix. The rigid-flexural filler-filler interaction between WF and WTR after activated has significant effect on the en hancement of mechanical strength of WPC, comparing to the reference, the maximal increment amplitude of the ft, fb, andfa of HDPE-based, PP-based WTR/WPC reaches 27.1%, 32.3% ; 26.9%, 5.6% ; and 53.1%, 46.0% ; respectively.
