Application of Stereovision-based Crack Detection Technique in Concrete Surface Evaluation

  To assess the crack width on concrete surface, a crack width detection technique based on stereovision is presented in this study.By projecting the crack image on the space plane where concrete surface locates, the 3 D coordinates of crack edge are achieved according to the stereovision principle.The crack width is de tected by the minimum distance method and the proposed crack image recognition algorithm.The experi ments are conducted on two concrete beams destroyed in static test, the crack width curves of two inspection zone of each beam are obtained.Compared with the micro-detector, experimental results indicate that the crack width inspection algorithm based on stereovision can accurately measure the crack width, verifying the proposed approach is feasible and reliable for detecting the crack width of concrete surface.
