Coupling Effects between the Caisson-quay Wall and Backfilled Soil

  Complex coupling effects exist between caisson-quay wall, backfilled soil and foundation.Most resear ches ignored the interaction between caisson and backfilled soil.Finite element model of a caisson-quay wall located in Weihai harbor is established based on ANSYS.Three-dimensional viscous-spring artificial bounda ry (VSAB) is modeled through COMBIN14 element.Furthermore, the modal characteristics and perform ance of the caisson are analyzed with static load.The results of analysis indicate that the interaction between the caisson and backfilled soil is significant, and considering the coupling effect caisson and backfilled soil is very indispensable.
