Performances of Prior Damaged R C Columns in Seismic-induced Fire
The behaviors ofseismic damaged concrete members subjected to post-earthquake fire tend to be weak ened significantly because the heat can be conducted into the inner of the structural members more rapidly due to the wide cracks and crushed concrete cover, resulting in faster deterioration of the materials mechani cal properties.First of all, experimental investigations were carried out to check the effect of cracks on tem perature distributions in the damaged concrete members; then based on the test results given by former re searchers and our research group, an empirical model is developed to determine the crushed length of con crete cover for the columns subjected to earthquake; and finally the fire behaviors of the seismic damaged columns are numerically simulated using ABAQUS by removal of the crushed concrete.
