The Dynamic Performance of R.C. Frame-bent Main Building in Large-scale Thermal Power Plants including Roof System

  The roof system of turbine hall in large-scale thermal power plants is often simulated by approximate rig id beam model.Wenchuan earthquake again revealed the frequent destruction of roof system.The integral fi nite element model of the R.C frame-bent main building in large-scale thermal power plants is established based on ANSYS, which includes three kinds of general roof system as space grid, trapezoid steel roof truss and the R.C mansard roof truss.Furthermore, the dynamic properties and global deformation of the frame bent building with general roof systems are discussed, which are compared with those of approximate rigid beam model.The results indicate a significant vibration of roof system and an aggravating torsion effect of the R.C frame-bent main building.The seismic behavior of the space grid is excellent while the R.C mansard roof truss is relatively weak.Although the structure can avoid collapse under strong earthquake, the buckling failure of the roof system due to the torsion effects cant be ignored.
