The Numerical Simulation and Simplified Model of Typical Bracket Sets in Yingxian Wood Pagoda under Vertical Loads
Based on plenty of history file research and physical tests upon bracket sets, this article selected the representative bracket sets in Yingxian Wood Pagoda as the investigating object and adopted the numerical simulation method to examine the load transferring mechanism and deformation characteristic of the bracket sets.By analyzing the mechanical properties of the bracket sets under vertical load, the N-Δ curve and com press stiffness of the bracket sets before split of the timber were obtained.Furthermore, according to the ver tical load transfer mechanism in bracket sets, put forward the simplified bracket sets model.The research re sults indicated that under vertical load (1) the mechanical behaviors of bracket sets can be regarded as line ar elastic mechanic model before the timber split and the compress stiffness of the bracket sets is around 31.40 kN/mm; (2) the main failure pattern is the destruction of the grain of wood under compression in Hua-arch and Scattered buckets; (3) the mechanical properties of the bracket sets can be well represented by the simplified model, so the simplified model can be applied in the whole Wood pagoda in the study of the response under vertical loads.
