Energy Analysis of Inter-story Isolation System

  Equation of motion of inter-story isolation system is established, and frequency ratio, mass ratio as well as damping ratio of inter-story isolation system are then optimized based on random ground motion model, where base shear of inter-story isolation system is used as the optimization object function.Furthermore, the accumulated and instantaneous energy response equations of inter-story isolation system based on energy bal ance principle are founded.Control mechanism of inter-story isolation system is systematically investigated from the perspective of energy.Numerical simulation results indicate that for a small mass ratio, inter-story isolation system performs similarly to structure-TMD system, and the transfer energy of superstructure as well as the elastic energy of substructure are large.When the mass ratio is high, the performance of inter-story i solation system is close to base isolation system with small input energy.In the case of 1 <μ<4, the quantity of input energy, transfer energy and elastic energy of inter-story isolation system are between structure-TMD system and base isolation system.
