Experimental Study on the Hysteretic Behavior of Shear Panel Dampers Made of Low Yield Point Steel
To solve the not obvious effect of residual hysteretic dampers in the condition of small vibration deforma tion, five shear panel dampers made of domestic low yield point steel (LYPSSP) had been designed and pro duced.Low reversed cyclic tests for the five shear panel dampers were carried out to investigate the hysteret ic behavior, in which of the effects of core panels connection, width versus thickness ratio of core panels, cross stiffeners of core panels were considered. And dampers skeleton curves, peak horizontal force, equiva lent viscous damping coefficient and average dissipate energy coefficient were conducted comprehensive anal ysis. The study showed that in compare to bolted connection, penetration weld connection of core panels ver sus flanges is more simple structure, higher reliability and easier to process; the shear panel dampers of do mestic low yield point steel have full hysterical curves, perfect energy dissipation behavior, and good stabili ty because of the similarity of hysterical curves in the same displacement level, and very obvious phenome non of hardening in the process of cyclically loading, and dampers strength and stiffness have no sudden change before failure; when take P/Py as the design goals, the smaller of width versus thickness ratio of core panels and out-plane buckling, the more full of hysterical curves and the better of energy dissipation behav ior; the variation of equivalent viscous damping coefficient can be the evidence to judge whether the core panels of LYPSSP get serious out-plane buckling, plastic deformation capacity of LYPSSP can be well evalu ated by average dissipate energy coefficient.
