The Influence Analysis of Phase Angle on Downburst Loading

  This paper is concerned with study of wind loading on the prismatic building structure during down burst.The structure location in downdraft and the building phase angle are selected as important considera tions.For this research, a group of manufacturing equipment based on impinging jet model has been devel oped to simulate downburst in the laboratory and a removable platform, it could make model position varia ble, has been covered with neat roughness elements to imitate ground surface.The structure model designed as a high-rise building has been settled on a rotatable disk placed in the platform center in order to realize building multiple phase angles.An extensive experimental simulation has been employed to examine the wind pressure under different conditions through taps distributed on all surfaces of the model.And pressure coefficient calculated from the observed data has been used to measure the wind effect on the surface.The results indicate that the wind loading on the top surface is not only the suction but also the pressure under the downburst action.It is also shown that the front surface sustains the largest wind pressure and the effect on the back surface is less worth considered.The pressure coefficients on the last two flanks are active changea ble in wide ranges under the different phase angle and the situations that negative peaks appear should be paid more attention.
