Grey Water as an Alternative Source of (Flush) Water in a Mega City of a Water Stressed Country

Stream segregation lends a sustainable route for domestic wastewater management while providing a means of revaluating something which is regularly comprehended as a waste.Grey water is one of such streams and it may be returned to almost any point in the water cycle not involved with ingestion, following a simpler treatment in comparison to the conventional one.Flush water which constitutes one fourth of the daily domestic water demand is one possible option for grey water reuse. The Turkish megacity Istanbul provides a large portion of its water from interbasin water transfer, and needs to pump one fifth of its supply from 200 km.This is comparable to the water demand for flushes which may as well be provided from reclaimed grey water.Evaluation of grey water as an alternative source of water deserves attention especially in areas suffering water stress or water scarcity.
