Startup Operation of a Modified SBR
A novel modified sequencing batch reactor was proposed to treat municipal wastewater.Using real time control strategy based on DO,ORP,pH,and OUR parameters, startup operation of a modified SBR was performed to treat municipal wastewater. The process control strategy for the modified SBR operation based on online monitoring of the DO.ORP,OUR and pH characteristic variations was developed. The results demonstrated that the real-time control strategy effectively controlled organic substrate degradation, nitritation and denitritation. The result showed that the modified SBR was successfully started within 7 days with stable and efficient performance. The results showed that the modified SBR was a high efficient reactor with average NH4+-N,total nitrogen, total phosphorus and COD removal efficiency of 98,52,85 and 85%.The specific organic substrate degradation rate and nitritation rate was 7.5kgCOD/kg MLSS.d and 0.5 kg NH4+-N/kg MLSS.d in the modified SBR,which was obviously higher than those in the conventional SBR.
