Characterization and Coagulation Performance of Poly Aluminum Zinc Slag Coagulant
An inorganic polymer, poly aluminum zinc slag (PAZS) coagulant was prepared with aluminum zinc slag and NaOH by copolymerization.Polymerization time and pH value,as important parameters, played vital role in the preparation and polymerization of PAZS.The optimal polymerization reaction time can be evaluated by measuring the pH change during the polymerization process. In this experiment, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and XRD analyses were used to investigate the surface properties and morphology of floes in coagulation.Infra-red (IR) spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure of PAZS.The characterization of PAZS and turbidity, chromaticity,COD removal by PAZS were studied in wastewater treatment. The results revealed that the removal efficiencies of turbidity, chromaticity, and COD by PAZS were excellent in lower dosage.PAZS has higher chromaticity and COD removal at higher pH sides from 6 to 12 for the dyeing and printing wastewater,in comparison with PAC which has pH side from 6 to 9,respectively.
