Preparation of PVDF Membrane Material Probe and its Application in Membrane Fouling
In order to further resolve the fouling mechanism of PVDF membrane from microcosmic view,PVDF membrane material probe was made by sintering the PVDF microspheres onto the free end of a cantilever with the aid of self-assemble devices.And the foulant-coated colloidal probes were prepared by adsorbing foulants onto the surface of the PVDF microsphere which had been sintered onto the cantilever.The intermolecular adhesion force between membrane and foulant and between foulant and foulant were investigated by atomic force microscope (AFM) in conjunction with PVDF membrane material probe and foulant-coated probe,respectively.And the membrane fouling experiment were also carried out to confirm the availability of probes which made by above method.The results show that the interaction forces of PVDF-membrane and foulant-foulant which were measured by PVDF probe and foulant-coated probe is a effective way to predict the fouling potential of PVDF membrane.There is a positive correlation between the intermolecular adhesion forces of foulant-membrane and the flux decline rate and extent in the initial filtration stage.Moreover,the foulant-membrane interaction forces could provide theoretical basis for membrane material s choice.
