Rapid Start-up of Anammox in UASB Inoculated with Microorganisms from Yeast Factory Anaerobic Tank
Rapid and robust start- up of anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) process from various seeding materials for treatment of N- rich waste streams is needed for development of cost and energy saving technologies. In the current study rapid anammox start-up (elimination of NH4+ and N02-) was achieved by inoculation with not anammox-specific UASB sludge treating industrial S042- and N-rich yeast factory wastewater.Increasing frequency when reactor biomass is fluidized by means of feeding with a higher flow rate, improved TN removal rate, but also NOBs activity.Maximum TN removal rates of 500 g m-3d-1 with removal efficiency of 70 % were achieved at moderate temperature of 20 ℃ after a one year operation period.
