Study on the Mechanism of Surface Scarfing for Slabs in Automobile Applications
Scarfing has been an important mean of producing high quality automotive steel,which is aimed at removing the surface defects from a steel slab.This article showed the working mechanism of the scarfing machine.In this paper,the compressible gas flow in the scaring machine was simulated by using the FLUENT commercial software.The scarfing machine has been applied so far,the so-called “furrow-shaped groove is one of the most serious problems,which is analyzed in theory by describing the gas flow condition in the scarfing machine unit and the pressure distribution on the slab surface.Some measurements were put forward to improve the grooves in the current research and it could be a tool to the design of scarfing machine and the development of high quality automotive steel.
